Peru President: Tia Maria project to move forward once social agreement is reached

16:48 | Arequipa (Arequipa region), Sep. 18.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday affirmed that the Tia Maria mining project will move forward once authorities, organizations, and Islay Province citizens reach an agreement.

Within this framework, he reaffirmed his administration is open to dialogue, as well as a consensus-seeking one.

In this sense, the Head of State indicated he is willing to meet with Islay authorities and community leaders at the Government Palace.

"We have always said that any mining project can be developed without any impositions (…)," he expressed.

Remarks were made after his participation in the 34th edition of Perumin, the world's second-largest mining convention taking place in Peru's southern city of Arequipa.
