Peru President: The best demonstration of love to mothers is by taking care of them

00:33 | Lima, May. 9.

President Martin Vizcarra has sent greetings to Peruvian mothers ahead of Mother's Day to be commemorated this Sunday, and stressed that the best demonstration of love is by taking care of them.

According to the Head of State, each mother constitutes the being that means the most to a person, being a symbol of dedication, commitment and love for children.

"We are going to be under social immobilization this Sunday. Those, who have their mothers (alive) and live with them, will greet them. However, many do not live with them, as they (grown-up children) have made their own home. The greatest desire is to go and give them (mothers) a big hug, but it cannot be done because we are responsible," he expressed.

As the top official remarked, the greatest sacrifice this Sunday is to protect and care for the mothers, and that implies waiting a while longer for the displays of affection.

"The greatest way to show love to mothers, for those who have them (alive) —unlike me, as I lost her six years ago— is by taking care of them, protecting them, staying away until the disease has been left behind. We are going to overcome the disease and from there it will be possible to return to hug our loved ones, starting with the mothers," he said.

"A happy Mother's Day from the distance —as it should be in this difficult time we are going through— to the mothers of each one of you and to the mothers who will be working that day because there are many of them who are doctors, nurses, police, members of the Armed Forces (...)," he added.

Mr. Vizcarra underlined that those mothers —despite the risk of contagion— continue to strive for their families.
