Peru: President says 3,500 police will intensify patrolling on streets of Lima

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday announced that 3,500 police agents will intensify patrolling activities to ensure citizen safety on the streets of Peru's capital Lima.

Moreover, the Head of State revealed that the police in said jurisdiction will be provided with 2,000 motorcycles to strengthen their patrolling work.

The country's top official made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the roundtable for peace and governance, titled "Con Punche Regional – Lima."

Likewise, the dignitary told 40 mayors gathered at the event that the Government will soon announce migration-related measures with the aim of reducing the criminal incidence in the country.

The President paid tribute to the security guard murdered in the district of Santiago de Surco and to Santa Anita's deputy mayor, who was also killed by criminals.

Afterwards, Mrs. Boluarte said that she has ordered the deployment of 3,500 police agents to join efforts to prevent crime across Metropolitan Lima.

In this context, the dignitary noted that the National Police will receive 2,000 new motorcycles to intensify patrolling activities in the capital city. 

Similarly, she said new migration-related measures will be announced soon, noting that this is because the primary duty of the Government is to protect the safety, integrity and life of Peruvians.
