President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday reaffirmed
CyM Vizcarra —a firm he had been part of— never provided services to Odebrecht, adding these statements are intended to confuse Peruvian citizens by falsely claiming he was linked to the Brazilian construction company.
"I have never denied that when I was a member of CyM, a business based in Moquegua region, it provided services to some firms that built the South Interoceanic Highway. I have never denied that," the Head of State expressed.
Furthermore, the top official indicated he is not scared about the possible investigations that may be carried out at Congress or the Prosecutor's Office regarding the agreement his family business had signed with Conirsa, as there were no irregularities.
"If there are doubts and there is a basis, then proceed with the investigation. We are not afraid at all. There is an intention to confuse (the people) since if an investigation is carried out, no irregularities will be found," he added.
Moreover, President Vizcarra ruled out having lied or lacked transparency when he was asked about an alleged link to Odebrecht during a conference at the Government Palace.
At that time, the Head of State was simply asked if he had provided services to Odebrecht.
Finally, the top official said this statement would settle the matter.
