Peru President reaffirms commitment to improving public education

14:53 | Moquegua (Moquegua region), May. 7.

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday reaffirmed his administration is committed to continuing working with the purpose of providing high-quality public education in Peru.

In this sense, he said, well-trained technicians and professionals will be the ones to contribute to the Inca country's development.

According to the Head of State, public and private education must complement each other, thus granting youngsters more choices.

"We must strive to provide quality education, and the State is capable of providing said quality education (…)," the Peruvian leader remarked.

In this sense, Vizcarra pointed out the State must work to guarantee a good-quality public education since not everyone has enough resources to afford a private one.

In addition, he noted education not only means teaching in classrooms, as it is also related to the impact that corresponding institutions have on society.

Likewise, the statesman explained a balance —among the Government, private companies, and knowledge— must be reached in order to achieve development.

Remarks were made at the opening ceremony of the 4th edition of Comasurim, an international mining congress held in the President's hometown, southern Moquegua region

President Vizcarra was joined by Ministers Fabiola Muñoz (Environment) and Francisco Ismodes (Energy and Mines) on the occasion.
