Peru: President participates in resource transfer ceremony

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday participated in the ceremony marking the symbolic transfer of economic resources to regional and local governments.

The event took place at the Government Palace's Dining Room.

During the ceremony, more than S/130 million (over US$33.78 million) was symbolically granted to local and regional authorities, as well as to executing entities for the continuity and initiation of projects —within the framework of the Reconstruction with Changes process.

Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Andres Alencastre; Authority for Reconstruction with Changes Executive-Director Robert Lopez, and authorities of the benefited jurisdictions also participated in the event.

"I express my support for entrepreneurs in the country. A few days ago, I enacted the Law that reduces the general sales tax rate (IGV) from 18% to 8% for restaurants, hotels, and tourist lodgings," the Head of State said on Twitter.
