National Police of Peru is commemorated. Its creation was regulated by Law No. 24949, thus merging the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard), the Police of Investigations, and the Guardia Republicana (Republic Guard) into a single police force.
Among its duties, the PNP must prevent, investigate, and combat crime; monitor and control the country's borders; guarantee law enforcement, as well as the security of public and private assets.
