Peru President meets with U.S. State Secretary

Peru's President Martin Vizcarra on Saturday afternoon met with United States Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo in the nation's capital city of Lima.

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio also attended the meeting, which took place at the Government Palace's Golden Hall.

Secretary Pompeo's visit served to address affairs linked to the bilateral agenda, including the promotion of economic-commercial relations, as well as cooperation in the fight against drug-trafficking and illegal mining.

In addition, both authorities discussed the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela


The chief of U.S. diplomacy arrived in Lima on Saturday. Previously, he visited Chile and Paraguay. His next stop will be in Cucuta (Colombia).
