on Monday morning supervised the measures implemented by the Government to restore and refurbish educational institutions affected by heavy rains in Lima's Villa El Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo, and San Juan de Miraflores districts.
The Head of State made several unannounced visits, verifying the safe, orderly, and timely return to in-person classes, as well as the continuity of educational services.
Accompanied by Education Minister Jose Antonio Chang, the top official visited the Juan Pablo II Educational Institution in Villa El Salvador, which hosts 440 students.
She inspected infrastructure improvement works at the facilities, including the painting of its facilities, the replacement of roofs along the corridors, and the renewal of furniture in all primary school classrooms.
Likewise, President Fujimori highlighted the implementation of a new technological innovation classroom equipped with 25 computers and a server, aimed at strengthening students' academic activities.
The top official highlighted the participation of various State entities, as well as parents, teachers, and educational community members, in the cleaning, recovery, and rehabilitation of school infrastructure, which enabled academic activities to resume within the scheduled timeframe.
"In just a few days, and thanks to the efforts of so many people—the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Health, and, of course, the Ministry of Education, as well as the Parents’ Association (APAFA), parents, and teachers—we are resuming classes," Fujimori stated.
Subsequently, the Head of State visited Miguel Grau Educational Institution No. 6032 in Villa Maria del Triunfo.
At the site, she spoke with school authorities, teachers, and students and inspected the work carried out.
"The Government is working toward a fundamental objective: improving education quality and providing children with better opportunities," she stated.
At that school, the President indicated that supervision and verification efforts will continue at other educational institutions in San Juan de Miraflores that were affected by the rains.
The aim is to ensure that they have the necessary conditions for the normal conduct of activities.
