Peru President leads Council of Ministers session

President Martin Vizcarra currently leads the Council of Ministers session at the Government Palace.

At the event, the Head of State —along with cabinet members— welcomed the recent referendum results.

Ministers even applauded the figures registered by Ipsos Peru polling firm.

As is known, President Martin Vizcarra had called a referendum to submit four political-justice reforms for public consultation.

The reforms were proposed by the Executive Branch and subsequently approved by Congress.

Said proposals addressed lawmakers' reelection, bicameral legislature, political parties' private financing, and a reform of the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) —renamed National Justice Board.

However, Parliament made changes to the reform project envisaging the return of a bicameral legislature.
