Peru President leads 128th session of National Agreement Forum

10:22 | Lima, May. 5.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra participates in the 128th session of the National Agreement Forum, which covers the plan for the resumption of economic activities and the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the South American country.

The meeting takes place at the command post of the Peruvian Air Force.

At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State warned of the changes that have occurred in Peru and around the world —as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic— since the previous National Agreement session in December last year.

He noted that both the Government and the population have taken seriously and responsibly the measures to contain the coronavirus spread from the outset.

In this regard, the top official mentioned that although the results are not exactly as expected, they are auspicious "considering what has been prevented."

"This is not only a health crisis, it is not just a sanitary crisis, we are experiencing an unprecedented social and economic crisis around the world," the President expressed.

In this sense, he emphasized that said crisis will be solved with the decision, strength and unity of all Peruvians.

Within the framework of the 128th session of the National Agreement, Javier Iguiñiz announced that he is leaving the position of Executive Secretary of said forum after eight years. Max Hernandez replaces him in office.
