"I mourn the passing of 32-year-old citizen Eduardo Ruiz Sanz. Strength to his family in this moment," Mr. Jeri stated via X early on Thursday.
The top official said he hoped the investigations would objectively determine the facts and responsibilities in this case.
Dozens of police agents and civilians were injured during the demonstration.
The violence occurred on downtown Lima streets, such as Abancay Avenue, near the Congress of the Republic.
