President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday inaugurated the 10th edition of Mistura, Peru's most important food festival.

At the event, the Head of State announced the creation of a Lima-based fairground to host future Mistura editions.

In this sense, he said Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz already has an idea of where this compound might be located.

"Meche [Mercedes] has the idea of where it should be, but I will not reveal it. There are options in Northern Lima, La Victoria district, Videna [National Sports Village], there are many options. It must be an accessible area though," the President expressed.

"We are working so hard to make Lima a better city," he added in the speech delivered at the opening ceremony.

The Head of State also noted other countries rely on areas to hold agricultural and cattle fairs, venues that currently do not exist in the Peruvian capital.

Likewise, he emphasized the progress made by this fair, which has consolidated its position as a gastronomic benchmark over the previous decade.

Before attendees, Mr. Kuczynski said he had attended a forum on sustainable cities and talked about the opportunity of having electric cars circulating on domestic roads, since the country has a surplus of 7,000 megawatts of energy and "we do not know what to do with it."

Within this framework, he argued the pollution observed in the capital should disappear in 15 to 20 years, to make Lima a unpolluted city hosting electric and commuter trains, a subway, and a clean public transportation service.
