Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that the investigation into an alleged irregular payment during his tenure as Moquegua Region Governor was shelved twice by the Public Ministry.
As he stated, a prosecutor's investigation was conducted from 2015 to 2017 and was shelved because there was no ground for an accusation. The inquiry was reopened in 2018 but was shelved again.
"What is absolutely clear is that all steps and procedures were conducted in accordance with the law and administrative rules that govern the execution of public works," he told the press.
"We are open to a new inquiry," he stated.
