The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday highlighted the record level reached by the execution of public investment in October. It reached S/3.652 billion (about US$1.009 billion).

Within this framework, the Head of State commented that the current COVID-19 pandemic generated the largest health crisis in history, which had initially affected not only people's health but also
the country's economy.

"Since March this year, public investment had been affected. It measures spending on projects jointly executed by the central and regional governments, as well as the more than 1,800 municipalities in the country," he expressed.

"Because of the pandemic, a number of important works were paralyzed for the benefit of the population. However, with the reactivation and clearly established protocols, they began to improve," he stressed.

"If we compare the results with those of previous years, (public) investment in October this year was the highest in the history of the months of October of any previous year," he concluded.

Today's remarks were made during a televised address to the nation from the Government Palace in Lima.

President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
