The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday greeted the province of Chota, located in Peru's northern Andean Cajamarca region, for its 470th anniversary.

"Chota, heroic land of AKunta and cradle of Peru's farming community patrols, celebrates its 470th anniversary," Mr. Castillo expressed on his official Twitter account.

"I convey my affectionate greetings to Chota citizens because, on a day like today in 1552, the Spanish foundation of this beloved city under the name of 'All Saints' was held," he highlighted.

The Head of State was born in the town of Puña belonging to Tacabamba district, Chota province.

He is the third of nine siblings —born to Ireño Castillo and Mavila Terrones.

Last June, the President fulfilled activities in the area. There, he held a meeting with residents and participated in the inauguration ceremony of Hospital Bicentenario Chota (Chota Bicentennial Hospital).

In addition, Mr. Castillo returned to his hometown province to cast a vote in the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections last October.
