Peru: President Fujimori visits Jose Granda Great School Unit

The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, visited the Jose Granda Great School Unit in Lima's San Martin de Porres district on Friday.

The Head of State was accompanied by Ministers Jose Antonio Chang (Education) and Juan Sheput (Labor and Employment Promotion) during her tour of the educational institution.

The top official inspected the food industry, computing, and automotive mechanics workshops, where students receive technical training to prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship.

"We have been able to see the workshops being set up here at Jose Granda and at all the schools where we will implement technical education and education aimed at securing employment," she said in remarks to TVPeru.

In this regard, President Fujimori announced that she is arranging for an agreement to be signed between the Ministry of Education (Minedu) and the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) to enable students receiving technical training in their final years of secondary school to benefit from the MTPE's job listings.

She explained that the aim of promoting technical education is to quickly integrate high school graduates into the labor market.

The goal for this year is to ensure that 124 educational institutions across the country have fully equipped technical training workshops.

The Head of State also reported that she had been scheduled to travel to Amazonas today. However, weather conditions prevented the aircraft from taking off.
