on Wednesday called on countries to develop concrete and genuine activities to protect the environment and the planet.
Based on Peru's experience, the Head of State noted that one of the causes of said water crisis is illegal mining located in the headwaters, which contaminates the clean water that should reach local communities.
In this regard, the top official emphasized the need to take measures to manage water resources in the best possible manner and to cultivate the land optimally.
If this is not done efficiently, food security will be the other major problem to be faced, she said.
The President stressed that Peru is taking environmental protection very seriously, which is why the government's overall policies are focused on safeguarding our only home and providing the necessary resources to carry out coordinated multilateral efforts.
Mrs. Boluarte stated that Peru is an ally to other countries in their environmental concerns and will continue working in a coordinated manner with a collective approach.
"Let us work on shifting from fossil fuels to clean energy, so that our sisters and brothers in the Andean regions or in jungle communities can receive energy through solar panels," she expressed.
The Head of State also stated that Peru will continue focusing not only on environmental protection but also on strengthening democracy and maintaining continuous economic growth.
"With conviction and responsibility, we continue advancing in our own development," she pointed out.
