Peru and Bolivia reaffirmed their commitment to integration and the promotion of trade with the signing of the Commercial Management Agreement between the National Port Company (ENAPU) and the Bolivian Port Services Administration (ASP-B).
The agreement, signed yesterday at the Torre Tagle Palace, grants trade facilities and tariff discounts to Bolivian foreign trade through the Port of Ilo.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Foreign Minister Félix Denegri Boza and Bolivia's Chargé d'Affaires in Peru, Eva Chuquimia, who acted as witnesses of honor.
The agreement, negotiated with the support of both foreign ministries since 2024, was signed by the general manager of Enapu, Juan Carlos Montenegro, and the executive manager of ASP-B, Daniel Villarroel.
In his speech, Vice Foreign Minister Denegri Boza emphasized that the signing of this instrument will allow Bolivian foreign trade to be integrated into the logistics and port hub platform that Peru seeks to consolidate in South America.
He also noted that this will be possible through maritime cabotage trade between the port of Ilo and the ports of Callao and Chancay, thus facilitating Bolivian foreign trade with the Asia-Pacific region.
In this regard, the head of the Peruvian Diplomatic Service noted that the agreement will strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries and contribute to the Peruvian government's efforts to promote the socioeconomic development of the south of the country, particularly for port service operators and the population of the Moquegua region.
Finally, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that Peru's foreign policy guidelines regarding Bolivia have consistently promoted the movement of foreign trade cargo through Peruvian ports.
"And this will continue to be the case in the future," Denegri Boza stated.
