The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday requested all Peruvians to get vaccinated and achieve immunization through both doses, thus avoiding a possible third pandemic wave.

After being inoculated with a Sinopharm vaccine, the Head of State specified that it is time to guarantee "life and health," adding that "he has faith in the dose from the Chinese laboratory," as well as in other vaccines acquired by the Government.

"I call on all Peruvian brothers and sisters to prioritize this right to health, the right to life; we must not think of anything else because, otherwise, we might end up in an ICU bed," Mr. Castillo expressed.

“We have to comply, not only with one but both doses to ensure health. By complying with the second dose, we will have countered this third wave that is threatening us," he added.

The Head of State arrived at Huiracocha Zonal Park in Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district to receive his first dose. At the site, he summoned local and regional authorities to ensure the immunization of the populations in the country's interior regions.

"We are going to prioritize work in the regions and towns, but they (local and regional authorities) have to come and tell us that their towns and regions are vaccinated, because we cannot advance in other spaces if the population does not have the vaccines guaranteed; this right, under our administration, is essential as are education and agriculture," he indicated.

"In the coming weeks, we will announce what other regions we are going to visit," he said.
