The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday morning received a first dose of China's Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19.

The event took place at Huiracocha Zonal Park located in Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district, within the framework of the fourth Vaccination organized by the Health Ministry.

The Head of State arrived at the site joined by First Lady Lilia Paredes and was welcomed by Health Minister Hernando Cevallos.

While at the vaccination venue, the Head of State waited for his turn in order to be inoculated with the dose.

Citizens in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao are being vaccinated at 22 centers for 60 continuous hours, from 07:00 a.m. (local time) this Friday to 07:00 p.m. on Sunday.

On this occasion, citizens aged 38 and above will be immunized.

The mass vaccination campaign is expected to protect citizens by reducing their risk of becoming seriously ill or dying from the new coronavirus.
