The
on Friday asked citizens and political leaders to set aside polarization and called for political maturity so as to face the crisis that Peru is going through.
In remarks to reporters, the Head of State indicated that "Peru comes first" ahead of any political and partisan position.
"I want to send a message to all Peruvians and political leaders. Let's put an end to polarization. Peru has already suffered this polarization for years; it has been more acute during the recent year and a half (...) Peru needs us all," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.
"I send greetings to Vladimir Cerron (Peru Libre party leader) and to all leaders of political parties (and tell them) that we can face this crisis maturely," she added.
Yet Mrs. Boluarte noted that if society and the situation demand so, her administration will "call for early elections, in conversation with Congress' democratic and political forces."
"Yesterday, I met with various parliamentary groups from the right and left, because I am the President of all Peruvians; let's meet with the National Agreement (members), with the organizations that are alive so as to reach a peaceful solution," she underlined.
In this sense, Mrs. Boluarte called on the citizens who are coming out to protest, rightly or wrongly, to calm down.
"
Dina (Boluarte) assumes (the Presidency on) this opportunity. I have not been the one who generated this situation, but I fulfill this constitutional role (…) Consequently, what I do is comply with the constitutional succession.
Let's talk and find a peaceful way out; Peru has had enough," she told reporters.
The Head of State said this is not the time to convene a Constituent Assembly, since the country is going through "a political crisis, and first we have to solve problems linked to the economy and food."
