Peru President attends swearing-in ceremony of new Constitutional Court head

12:26 | Lima, Jan. 3.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Friday participated in the swearing-in ceremony of magistrate Marianella Ledesma as Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court (TC) of Peru.

The event took place within the framework of a ceremony marking the opening of the judicial year of the TC.

As is known, lawyer Marianella Ledesma was elected Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of Peru —on December 2, 2019— for the next two years, thus replacing Ernesto Blume.

Ledesma is the first woman to hold the presidency of the highest constitutional body.

At that time, she obtained four votes in favor versus the three received by Eloy Espinosa-Saldaña.

Ledesma will lead the TC, and Augusto Ferrero Costa will be in charge of the Vice-Chairmanship.

She is the second woman to be part of the TC after Delia Revoredo.
