Through its official X account, the Presidential Office expressed its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the celebrated Peruvian author, who died on Tuesday at the age of 87.
"We deeply lament the passing of Alfredo Bryce Echenique, one of the brightest figures in our literature. His pen, immortalized in works such as 'Un mundo para Julius' (A World for Julius), leaves an immense void but an eternal legacy. May he rest in peace," the publication reads.
Bryce Echenique was also the author of important works such as "La vida exagerada de Martín Romaña" (The Exaggerated Life of Martin Romaña), "Tantas veces Pedro," and "El hombre que hablaba de Octavia de Cádiz" (The Man Who Spoke About Octavia De Cadiz), among others.
After news of his passing became known, various figures and institutions at the national and international levels expressed their condolences and highlighted his significant literary legacy.
