Reaffirming the Government's commitment to a frontal fight against drug trafficking and criminal organizations, the
Ministry of Interior (Mininter) began the fourth drug destruction process of the year.
A total of 6,320.61 kilograms of illicit substances will be destroyed to prevent their return to the illegal market.
The substances, seized in various operations carried out by the Peruvian National Police across the country, were destined for criminal organizations operating in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
The drugs destroyed included cocaine hydrochloride, coca paste, marijuana, ketamine, poppy, and ecstasy.
The ceremony marking the start of the process was led by Deputy Internal Order Minister Juan Olivera, who highlighted the operational work carried out by the Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro).
Its agents have seized more than 58 tons of drugs so far this year, directly affecting illicit drug trafficking finances.

He underscored that the Ministry of Interior has been strengthening its strategy to address the growth of the synthetic drug market through the approval of the List of New Psychoactive Substances.
This tool makes it possible to punish the sale of substances such as ketamine, fentanyl, and tusi, among others, as illicit drug trafficking offenses.
With this fourth process, the Ministry continues to move forward with the elimination of seized illicit substances.
In the three previous processes, 22,511.54 kilograms of drugs were destroyed, reflecting the sustained efforts by the sector and the police to weaken drug trafficking networks.
Also participating in the ceremony were Deputy Human Rights Minister Yessica Yabar; the Ministry of Interior's Director General against Organized Crime, Luis Yunis; Devida General Manager Agripino Llalhuaman; and the U.S. Embassy's Anti-Narcotics Affairs (INL) Office representative, Gabriel Hurst.
