met with a special mission sent to Peru by Colombia's President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella.
The meeting took place Tuesday morning at Torre Tagle Palace, the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters, in Lima.
The mission is led by Colombia's Vice President-elect Jose Manuel Restrepo, who arrived in Peru last Monday to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony.
Hours before being sworn into office, the president-elect met with the delegation, accompanied by Foreign Minister-designate Carlos Espa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on X.
During the meeting, both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and restoring ambassadorial representation in both countries through the appointment of ambassadors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
In turn, Restrepo Abondano congratulated Fujimori Higuchi.
Similarly, he said it was an honor to accompany her at today's presidential inauguration ceremony as the representative of Colombia's president-elect.
"We will work very hard to rebuild our nations and restore their standing in the world," the Colombian politician expressed on X.
Abelardo de la Espriella will take office as President of Colombia on August 7, when the country's inauguration ceremony is scheduled.
