Cabinet Chief Hector Valer on Saturday afternoon announced that he offered his resignation to the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo.

During a press conference, 63-year-old Valer pointed out that at this time he was an obstacle to the consensus that the Executive Branch seeks to achieve with political forces and parliamentary benches.

The also-congressman argued that on the political battlefield one has to know how to recognize victories or accept defeats. However, he was emphatic in pointing out that his defeat was built on what he deemed as "false facts."

"I hope that is how those who lost the elections would accept their defeat," he said.

Furthermore, Valer mentioned that President Castillo wants Peru to become a welfare state, with social justice for the entire population.

After leaving the Executive Branch, Valer indicated that he will wage a legal battle and sue those who —according to him— tarnished his honor and dignity.

He also mentioned that he will return to his work at Congress.
