The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday afternoon announced the reshuffle and formation of a new Ministerial Cabinet.

"As I have always announced in my speeches, the Cabinet is constantly evaluated. For this reason, I have decided to renew it and form a new team," the Head of State wrote on Twitter.

"I appreciate the support from Mirtha Vasquez and the Ministers of State. We will continue on the path of development for the good of the country," he said.

As is known, Mirtha Esther Vasquez Chuquilin was sworn in as Prime Minister of Peru on October 6, 2021, during a ceremony held at the Government Palace in Lima.

On the other hand, in a letter in which she submitted her irrevocable resignation, Vasquez emphasized that she expressed full willingness to accept the post since the day she was summoned to it, noting that she was convinced of the need to strengthen an option for change, which meant hope for millions of Peruvians.

"Several moments of crisis have occurred throughout this time; some were caused by opposition groups with a clear intention of staging a coup, others caused by issues associated —unfortunately— with possible acts of corruption or irregularities committed by high-ranking officials of this administration," she added.

Moreover, the Cabinet chief stated that it was not possible to reach a consensus on the Interior Ministry's leadership post or on respect for its institutional succession.

So, despite the efforts, "I believe that my role in this instance has come to an end and that this Government needs a Cabinet reshuffle," she said.
