Peruvian Prime Minister Walter Martos on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with
Executive-Secretary Max Hernandez.
The event also saw the participation of members of Congress, regional governments, political parties, guilds and civil society.
Aspects linked to the
Peru Pact were addressed at the meeting. As is known, the
pact was launched by the Executive Branch by end-July. The initiative is intended to encourage dialogue beyond the COVID-19 crisis.
Likewise, it aims to lay the foundations for a country whose basic agreements help consolidate democracy and channel the political debate, so that the nation can move forward after the Bicentennial, which will be celebrated in 2021.
1. Building a unified health system that guarantees the universal provision of this service for Peruvians in an efficient, transparent and equal manner.
2. Guaranteeing educational quality by eliminating the gap between urban and rural education, with accessibility to virtual education at all levels for public and private education under adequate State regulation.
3. Promoting sustainable economic growth and investments, in addition to proposing policies that enhance the State's capacity needed to detect and dismantle anti-competitive practices.
4. The continuity of political and justice system reforms in order to make progress in the democratization of the country and in the fight against corruption.
5. The urgent fight against poverty and extreme poverty that implies closing —once and for all— historical social gaps and making progress in the construction of a more just and equitable country.
