Peru PM: Let's work without leaving health behind

15:19 | Lima, Jul. 2.

Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Thursday called on citizens to work without distracting their gaze from what should be important nowadays: health protection.

"Our strength derives from unity. Under that principle, let us work without distracting our gaze from what should be the priority nowadays: protecting our family members' health so that we can embrace them tomorrow," Zeballos wrote on Twitter.

"The COVID-19 still lives with us, and this requires us to continue taking precautions," he added.

A Supreme Decree published in an extraordinary edition of the official gazette El Peruano orders a targeted quarantine for minors under 14 years of age, as well as for people aged above 65 and citizens with comorbidities, who remain under mandatory social isolation.

The regions of Arequipa, Ica, Junin, Huanuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios, and Ancash —which have registered increase in COVID-19 cases— also remain under mandatory social isolation. In those areas, residents are allowed to leave their homes only to have access to essential services and goods and to carry out authorized economic activities
