Peruvian Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano affirmed that the Government will launch an awareness-raising campaign on the importance of observing health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 infections and related deaths.

"For this reason, we are going to implement an awareness-raising campaign on the importance of observing health protocols not only to take care of our health but also to prevent more deaths (...)," Cateriano told ATV Noticias TV show.

In addition, the Cabinet chief commented that he is coordinating with Economy Minister Maria Antonieta Alva to provide administrative support measures to regional governments so that they can buy medicines and medical supplies to address the health emergency caused by the novel coronavirus.

"We are talking with the Minister of Economy to put in place administrative support mechanisms and thus help regional governments, those without spending capacity and technical staff," he said.

In this sense, the Prime Minister stressed that President Martin Vizcarra and the entire Executive Branch are fully committed to helping people in Arequipa, hence his visit to the White City on Sunday.

"Without a doubt, President Vizcarra is absolutely committed to helping those in pain, that was one of the reasons to visit Arequipa," he remarked.
