Peruvian Prime Minister Salvador del Solar has said he is confident that both the Executive Branch and Congress will be capable of working jointly on the country's priorities.
In remarks to Cuarto Poder TV show, he said the best way to improve
dialogue with Parliament is by focusing on what is good to Peruvian citizens.
"We've had moments of intense
confrontation and turmoil. We are aware of what all this led to. The overall request is to work together on national priorities. I am confident both Congress and the Executive Branch are capable of doing so," he indicated.
Del Solar explained he is fully focused on what President Martin Vizcarra has asked him to
do towards 2021, the country's Independence Bicentennial.
Likewise, the high-ranking official said the country needs many reforms, but sometimes the political context can be a hindrance. Plus, he clarified that if this were a political calculation, he would have not accepted the post of Prime Minister.
"Meritocracy has not been sacrificed at all. This is one of the prejudices for which women do not have the opportunities they deserve," he added.
