Peru: Oxygen, biosafety kits donated to regions affected by COVID-19

01:19 | Lima, Jul. 15.

More companies join the solidarity campaign supporting people affected by COVID-19 in regions across the country by donating medical oxygen and biosafety kits.

For example, Kallpa Generacion —a company engaged in the electricity generation business— donated 200 medical oxygen cylinders as part of Viva El Peru Unido Campaign and to meet the growing demand in hospitals due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This necessary supply of oxygen was distributed to Ancash, Arequipa, Lambayeque, Huancavelica, Lima and Ucayali regions, where Kallpa performs power generation and hydrocarbon production activities.

In the case of Ucayali, one of the regions worst-hit by this pandemic, 100 cylinders were delivered and distributed to the provinces of Padre Abad (50) and Atalaya (50).

Additionally, 15 cylinders were destined for Islay Province (Arequipa), 20 for Huaraz and 10 for Caraz (Ancash), 20 for Tayacaja (Huancavelica), 20 for Chiclayo (Lambayeque), as well as 10 for Cañete and 5 for Chilca (Lima).

The entire contribution was coordinated and delivered to regional and health authorities.

"We have been coordinating with regional and health authorities and, as a result of this dialogue, we are providing 6 regions with 200 cylinders of medical oxygen, which is so necessary at this time," Kallpa Generacion Social Responsibility Manager Luis Alburqueque stated.

For her part, Institutional Relations Manager Pamela Gutierrez affirmed that since the social isolation measures were put in place last March, Kallpa has supported State efforts by delivering staples, hygiene items, personal protective equipment, medications and tests to detect COVID-19.

"With this significant oxygen supply, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting all efforts to mitigate and prevent this disease," she concluded.
