Since the coronavirus pandemic began in Peru,
Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital (HEVES) has admitted more than 5,262 patients, who were hospitalized in different areas.
Of this total, 4,022 have been
successfully discharged after overcoming the disease, while others remain hospitalized fighting the virus.
Most
discharges (1,486) occurred in the emergency service, which comprises a multidisciplinary team who assists cases with urgent medical problems.
In this service, the patients are stabilized while they are given respiratory support and treatment, if necessary.
Most of them defeat the disease successfully, but others must be hospitalized for a longer time.
Similarly, over 666 people have been
discharged from the hospitalization service, including the Obstetric Care Center as well as adult, pediatric, and neonatal ICUs.
Each area includes specialists, equipment, and the necessary input supply for their recovery.
It must be noted that —out of the total number of people who overcame COVID-19— nearly 120 were seniors, 60 pregnant women, and 7 children.
Moreover, 83% of patients have responded favorably, 14% are in a stationary stage, and 3% have experienced serious health complications.
