Peru: Stroke patient defeats COVID-19

13:09 | Santa (Ancash region), Jun. 10.

A 69-year-old patient —who suffered a stroke— was discharged after overcoming the critical stage of the new coronavirus (COVID-19). This happened in La Caleta de Chimbote Hospital belonging to Santa Province.

The patient arrived at the health center showing symptoms of respiratory problems, so he was admitted to the COVID-19 room. Shortly before entering this area, a stroke occurred. However, thanks to the oxygen treatment, he experienced a favorable evolution.

This is the second case of a patient with a stroke who is discharged from the aforementioned hospital after having defeated the new coronavirus.

Discharged

Along with the 69-year-old patient, two other male patients (aged: 43 and 57) were discharged. They received care from health professionals for up to a week in the COVID-19 area.

Before leaving the hospital, the patients and their families thanked the doctors, nurses and technicians for their assistance.

Discharged patients must abide by strict isolation measures for two weeks at home as final part of the treatment.
