After overseeing the transfer of electoral materials to the Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE) in Peru's interior, he said ONPE is coordinating with various organizations and institutions to ensure the election is conducted smoothly.
Pachas said ONPE has met all deadlines in the electoral schedule in order to ensure "a clean and transparent runoff, so that the majority of citizens can decide who will occupy Pizarro's Home (the Government Palace)."
Likewise, the acting ONPE chief reported that the deployment of electoral materials for Metropolitan Lima and Callao region will begin on June 5 at 10:00 p.m. (local time).
"We have been fulfilling the delivery of electoral materials despite the very limited timeframe," Pachas said at a press conference.
Asked about the problems reported in Lima during the first election round, the ONPE head said those incidents are under investigation.
He added that the findings are expected to be known in approximately eight months.
Pachas also urged polling station members who have already completed their training to fulfill their duties on Sunday, June 7, when the runoff election will be held, in order to help ensure a successful electoral process.
Finally, he reported that a total of 386 polling tables have been reassigned to new voting locations.
