Peru: Only one person per family allowed outside from Monday to Saturday

11:36 | Lima, Apr. 10.

Only one person per family will be allowed to leave home to buy supplies or visit pharmacies and banks during the state of national emergency declared in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The measure was stipulated by Supreme Decree No. 064-2020-PCM, published Friday in El Peruano official gazette, which also states social immobilization will remain in effect all day long on Sundays.

This order modifies a previous measure stipulated by Supreme Decree No. 057-2020-PCM, which limited men and women to alternate days out to shop for provisions and medicines.

According to said decree, men could circulate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, whereas women were allowed to do so on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Those who need to obtain the financial benefits granted by the Government —within the framework of the state of emergency— and collect their pension, will be allowed to leave their homes.

The document was inked by Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos, and State ministers.

Additionally, the document makes the state of emergency extension —approved until April 26— official. Said measure was announced on Tuesday by the Head of State.

The decree reiterates that the use of face masks is mandatory when outside during said period.
