Non-traditional agricultural exports in Peru amounted to US$3.210 billion between January and May this year, up 7.5% compared to the same period in 2022, the
Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (Comex-Peru) reported on Sunday.
Likewise, Comex-Peru noted that the United States ranked first among the destinations for the products exported between January and May this year.
Thus, the sales to the North American country totaled US$958 million, posting a slight decline of 0.9%.
Next in the list comes the Netherlands, with exports reaching US$509 million, up 9.3%; Spain (US$229 million, 25.1%), Mexico (US$158 million, 43%); and Ecuador (US$158 million, 13.3%).
In the case of Peruvian regions, Ica led the exports of the sector, totaling US$867 million, up 9.12% over the same period of the previous year.
Ica is followed by Lima (US$663 million, 7.8%), La Libertad (US$455 million, 8.6%), Piura (US$404 million, 2.6%) and Lambayeque (US$282 million, 13.9%).
Main exported products
On the other hand, fresh grapes became the most exported product in the January-May 2023 period, with an export value of US$ 678 million, expanding 18.4%.
