Prime Minister Luis Enrique Arroyo on Wednesday oversaw the deployment of more than 45,000 Armed Forces personnel to ensure security for the General Elections this Sunday, April 12, and the free exercise of citizens' right to vote.

The government official specified that military personnel will secure 100% of polling places nationwide, along access routes and public order conditions, to ensure the election day unfolds safely and smoothly.

"This is not just a logistical operation; it is a concrete demonstration of organization, response capacity, institutional neutrality, and effective State presence where democracy must be fully protected," he pointed out.

During the ceremony marking the start of the operation, he said the Armed Forces will carry out a strictly neutral mission in support of the electoral process, securing polling places and electoral materials.

"Besides, I would like to point out that this commitment to democratic order is consistent with a broader conviction of this government led by President Jose Maria Balcazar," he stated.

The Cabinet chief reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting the vote and ensuring a democratic transition marked by stability and confidence.

"We tell citizens clearly: their vote is protected, and we express the government's recognition to our Armed Forces for their discipline, service vocation, and commitment to Peru," Arroyo emphasized.

The Prime Minister said that on April 12, Peruvians will not only elect their authorities but will also reaffirm, as a nation, their trust in democracy, institutions, and the State's capacity to guarantee a safe, orderly, and transparent electoral process.

"This coming Sunday, we must fulfill one of our most important missions: to guarantee full security for the electoral process so that we can fully meet the trust that the population has always placed in us," he concluded.

The General Elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.

This electoral process will allow citizens to go to the polls to elect the next President of the Republic, Vice Presidents, Senators, Deputies, and Representatives to the Andean Parliament.
