on Wednesday said the electoral body guarantees that the General Elections this Sunday will be fair, secure, and transparent.
"We are fully focused on providing the country with clean, transparent, secure, and peaceful elections. That is our sole priority, and we guarantee that we will have fair elections on April 12," he stated.
These remarks were made from Peru's eastern Ucayali region, where the official supervised the deployment of electoral materials.
Corvetto noted the ONPE is working to ensure that materials reach all areas of the country 48 hours before election day.
“We have deployed this morning here in Ucayali and Purus; we are also deploying electoral material in other Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE). All the material to be deployed by river will be sent out tomorrow,” he said.
The ONPE head explained that the deployment follows a secured chain of custody and is overseen by the National Elections Board (JNE), with support from the Armed Forces and the Police.
"The ONPE could not conduct an election without the support of the glorious Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police, which accompany us and safeguard the materials during both deployment and retrieval," he stated.
Corvetto added that 86% of polling tables already have their three trained members.
"We are in a very good position," he noted.
The
official urged citizens to learn how to cast a valid vote on the ONPEduca platform. On election day, staff will be available to provide assistance to voters.
"For a vote to be valid, the mark must be placed on the symbol, not in blank spaces. A preferential vote may be included if applicable. Voters must mark one symbol in each of the five races," he explained.
