Starting Monday, July 12, mandatory social immobility (curfew)
in provinces at high risk level —including Metropolitan Lima and Callao— will start at midnight. Besides, the Sunday ban on the use of private vehicles will be lifted,
Education Minister Ricardo Cuenca has announced.
These two measures have been introduced based on the provinces' risk level for the spread of COVID-19.
All the other measures remain in place in provinces in the extreme, very high, high, and moderate risk levels.
"These two measures stipulate that, in provinces at high risk level —as is the case of Metropolitan Lima and Callao—
the 11 p.m. curfew will be extended to midnight and private vehicles will be allowed to circulate on Sundays," he explained.
Thus, the night curfew in provinces at high risk level will run from midnight to 4 a.m. the next day.
Cuenca noted that "the good news is that, for the first time, no province is in the extreme level."
He reported that Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna regions are in the very high risk level; so —based on the activities performed— their businesses can operate between 30% and 50% capacity.
Remarks were made on Wednesday
during a press conference —along with Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez, Culture Minister Alejandro Neyra, and Health Minister Oscar Ugarte— held at the Government Palace in Lima.
