Peru: New Defense, Culture Ministers sworn in

Retired Navy Vice-Admiral Jorge Moscoso Flores was on Monday afternoon sworn in as the new Minister of Defense of Peru.

He will thus succeed the late Jose Huerta, who passed away at age 71 on June 24, 2019.

Huerta had been sworn in on April 2, 2018, and was —until his death— part of President Martin Vizcarra's cabinet.

Culture

Likewise, archaeologist Luis Castillo Butters took the oath of office to become the new Culture Minister.

He will replace Ulla Holmquist, who had been sworn in on March 11, 2019.

Today's swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government Palace's Golden Hall in Lima.
