National Agreement Executive-Secretary Max Hernandez on Friday stated that the proposals involved in the Consensus for Peru —a document presented during the latest 131st forum session— are a commitment to dialogue in favor of governability.

"This meeting is a proposal for a set of consensus, but at the same time a commitment to dialogue and consensus building in favor of democratic governability," he expressed.

In this sense, the officer stressed that the aforementioned document was crafted with the support of members of regional governments, municipal organizations, and the United Nations, among others.

"Experts have been invited; they have relied on the support of the United Nations, and consensus building has been sought throughout our country, with the help of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (…) also with municipal organizations such as the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE) and the Network of Urban and Rural Municipalities of Peru (REMURPE)," he indicated.

Likewise, Hernandez stressed the importance of listening to all State-run institutions with the aim of achieving the common good.

"All of us have the same voice. Regardless of the powers, of the majorities, of the weight of each institution, each institution seeks the common good," he pointed out.

This document includes concrete proposals for the short and medium term in health, education, the fight against poverty and extreme poverty, sustainable economic growth with decent employment, political and justice reforms.

Also present at today's event were Congress Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva, regional governors, and various State ministers, among other authorities.

As is known, the National Agreement Forum is the tripartite space for dialogue and consensus building, made up of the Government at its three levels (national, regional, and local), political parties with representation at Congress of the Republic, and civil society organizations.
