Of the 5,022 companies that carried out export operations in the first half of the current year, 87.2% were
, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported on Tuesday.
The guild explained that —of those exporting MSEs— 62.6% are micro-enterprises and 24.6% are small ones.
In Peru, micro and small businesses employ almost 13 million people, that is, more than 50% of the economically active population (EAP). Therefore, they are
key players in the economic recovery.
In this regard, Adex Chairman Erik Fischer highlighted the creation —led by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF)— of the Executive Board for the Development of
MSEs, as there is a pending agenda whose execution will lead to reactivating that sector and achieving the corresponding formalization.
According to him, the strengthening and formalization of these units will allow the creation of more jobs and their inclusion in the value chains promoted by the
Pacific Alliance and which constitute a great opportunity for them.
