Peru Gov't to improve Business Support Fund for MSEs

18:16 | Lima, Apr. 20.

Peru's Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva on Monday affirmed that the Government will improve the design of the Business Support Fund (FAE), which has supported 22,000 micro- and small-enterprises (MSEs) so far.

"Some improvements in the design of the Business Support Fund will be submitted to the Council of Ministers this week," she stated.

To date, FAE has supported 22,000 MSEs with S/188 million (US$55.1 million), and there is an additional demand for support from other 71,000, worth S/813 million (about US$238.6 million).

According to the minister, the Government is fully aware that microfinance institutions face higher operating costs.

Therefore, since the design of the Reactiva Peru program two important decisions have been taken, regarding the increase in the guarantee and the auction of credits.
