Peru leads LatAm's best reputation countries ranking

10:51 | Boston (U.S.), Oct. 21.

Peru holds the first spot among Latin American countries in the ranking of the countries with the best reputation in the world, according to a recent publication by the Reputation Institute.

In global terms, Peru ranks 25th —above Chile, which is ranked 28th, Colombia (48th) and Mexico (40th), its partners in the Pacific Alliance.

Argentina also stands out (29th), followed by Brazil (34th), whereas Venezuela (49th) lies behind.

All countries have a worldwide reputation that is determined by factors such as their natural beauty; their political, economic, and environmental conditions; or the news that appears in the world's main news outlets about each country, according to Infobae.

Globally speaking, the list is topped by Sweden (1st), followed by Switzerland (2nd), Norway (3rd), Finland (4th), and New Zealand (5th).

Reputation, investments and tourism

The international reputation of a nation can be very important, as it helps determine how it can be inserted into today's world.

"Reputation determines whether people support a country through their behaviors. Good reputation means more exports, more investments, more people coming to visit," Nicolas Georges Trad, chief operating officer at the Reputation Institute, said in remarks to Forbes.
