Peru: Lava Jato Case Prosecutor raids Confiep headquarters

10:20 | Lima, Nov. 29.

Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group member Jose Domingo Perez currently leads a raid at the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) headquarters in Lima's upper-class San Isidro district.

The measure was authorized by Judge Victor Zuñiga from the Fourth National Preparatory Investigation Court belonging to the Superior Court of Justice Specialized in Organized Crime and Corruption by Officials.

The raid aims to find documents such as invoices, donation certificates, and any others related to the receipt or delivery of money that Confiep had made for the presidential campaigns of 2011 and 2016.

Also, the team members search for receipts linked to expenses and purchases made by the business guild within that framework.

According to the warrant, the purpose is to find any objects necessary for the investigation on the aforementioned political campaigns.

The search will last up to 48 hours.
