Peru and Japan signed an agreement reaffirming their interest in deepening cooperation in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
"We have collaborated —in many ways— with Peru, especially in Digital Terrestrial Television and ICTs," Takagi pointed out.
"Yet, we are entering the Internet of Things era [functioning of smart devices thanks to the
Internet], and that is why we will increase our collaboration," he added.
For her part, Nakagawa noted this agreement strengthens the existing relations
uniting both nations. Plus, it allows implementing and assessing regulations, as well as progress in terms of ICTs.
It must be noted the National ICT Policy is aimed at shaping a comprehensive
digital strategy that will lead the country to relying on a digital ecosystem and to moving from the current "
Internet of Consumption" to the "Internet of Production."
"The objective is to join the access to communications with contents, an equation from which ICTs emerge […]," the Peruvian official concluded.
Titled "Contributions to the National Policy on Information and Communication Technologies and Broadband," the event brought together ICT experts from Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, and Peru. It took place in Lima on March 13-14.
