74% of Peru's millennials —between the ages of 18 and 34— apply for jobs on their smartphones, a ManpowerGroup Solutions' recent survey revealed.

In this sense, the study shows that one of the main reasons why youngsters prefer smartphones is comfort, since such devices allow them to search for jobs from different places like coffee shops, buses, cities or while on trips.

Likewise, the report says human resources' professionals recognize that technology has completely changed the way applicants are attracted and hired.

"[…] Employers use technology to attract candidates, create talent communities and prepare interviews," the study concludes.

Mobile applications

It must be noted employment websites are increasingly offering opportunities through mobile applications, as 90% of the time —spent on smartphones— are on such programs.

Conducted among 731 people, the survey also reveals citizens are more interested in applying for jobs by using mobile applications —a 30% increase compared to 2017.

Likewise, it indicates that these applicants are highly independent and are more likely to be willing to move to a new city (30%), or country (31%) for new job opportunities, versus the average 27% and 26%, respectively.
