Peru, Japan agree to boost bilateral trade as tool for development

Peru and Japan are about to celebrate their 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In light of this, both countries have agreed to boost bilateral trade as a tool for development.

In this regard, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that Japan was Peru's fourth-largest trading partner in the world last year.

In a post on Twitter, it noted that Japan was the third largest destination for Peruvian exports in 2022.

Moreover, the publication mentioned that Japan was the 12th largest source of imports to Peru.

According to the government agency, bilateral trade between Peru and Japan totaled US$4.2 billion in said year.

In addition, such bilateral trade witnessed an increase of 6% compared to 2021.
